Marin Alsop becomes the first woman to conduct the Last Night of the Proms in its 118-year history. She leads a program that includes a celebratory new work by Anna Clyne and a rare performance of Britten’s 1967 overture The Building of the House for chorus and orchestra.

Nigel Kennedy and Joyce DiDonato star as soloists in a program that picks up sea-faring themes from Bantock and George Lloyd. There will be two works by Alsop's former teacher, Leonard Bernstein, plus traditional favorites like Rule, Britannia!and Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1.
